fold

A folding USB plug charger, designed when working as a design intern at Cambridge Design Technology Ltd., over the course of Summer 2015. It was a conceptual project in response to a brief specified by an Essex-based promotional items company.

The ABS plug is characterised by its folding pins, allowing the user to neatly store the device in a pocket or purse - the curved outer shell reflects this. For ease of use, an integrated spring-loaded push button gently levers the middle pin to allow it to be easily pulled up, and large grooves allow access to the shorter pins.

The two-part case has been designed and engineered so that it can be rapid protoyped for modelling and testing, with consideration to British Standards and relevant regulations. It also means that future versions allow for different shaped shells, providing flexibilty for any client.
